Self-testing has emerged as a powerful tool to increase access to integrated, differentiated, and decentralized health services, accelerating prevention, care, and treatment for various diseases, while also increasing health system resilience against COVID-19. HIV self-testing has been instrumental in establishing the foundation for other self-testing and self-care approaches, including interventions for sexually transmitted infections, Hepatitis, and COVID-19. This satellite symposium will focus on the levers for market growth for HIV self-testing and how the evidence from supply and demand side interventions can be applied to other self-testing and self-care approaches in different disease areas. Experts will present the latest results from research and implementation in 15 countries across 3 continents including HIV, COVID-19, and Hepatitis C self-testing. The symposium aims to provide insights into the benefits of self-testing, including increased access to testing services, reduced stigma and discrimination, and improved linkage to care and treatment. The session will also explore how to create an enabling policy environment, ensure the availability of affordable and quality-assured products, build awareness and demand through targeted communication and marketing campaigns, and develop innovative distribution models that reach underserved populations. By attending this satellite symposium, participants will gain a better understanding of the role of self-testing in promoting universal health coverage and improving health outcomes for all.
